Counseling Ministry
Christians Actively Reaching Everyone
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12
The East Bethel Counseling Ministry has a vision: A Committed Body of Christ in the bond of love enjoying God’s presence “with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3) It is this vision that causes us to strive to be the most loving and hospitable, the most sensitive and effective, and the most caring and encouraging body of believers.
What is our Counseling Ministry? It is a phone call or text message, or a card in the mailbox from someone just letting you know that he/she is thinking of you. It is a lunch date with someone who has a wise heart and a listening ear willing to empathize with a spiritual struggle. It is a mobile force ready to take up the needs of those who have lost loved ones, undergone surgery or experienced difficult tragedy, providing food, consolation, transportation and any other need as it may arise.
The Counseling Ministry of East Bethel serves to connect each member in the local church body. The goal is to foster a small church atmosphere in a large church setting. Reaching out, loving and making sure all needs in the group are being addressed is the objective of each leader. We don’t want anyone to feel left out or forgotten.
Our Counseling Ministry plays an important role in our church’s outreach & in reach efforts. Our Counseling Team provide prayerful support for all first-time visitors as well as current members of our church. The Counseling Ministry attempts to incorporate all attendees into the life and ministries of our Church.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Cor 1:3-4
The General Mission of East Bethel Counseling Ministry is stated as follows: “We are making disciples to evangelize the world to increase the growth of the Kingdom of God.” Our specific mission is to promote Christian maturity. Christian maturity is developed by dealing with any immediate problem or circumstance in a manner consistent with Scripture and developing an inward character which conforms to the attitudes, beliefs and purposes of Christ.
DISAPPOINTMENTS ARE INEVITABLE; DISCOURAGEMENT IS A CHOICE
Recognizing that disappoints in our lives are inevitable, the members of the Counseling Ministry are available to encourage you and pray with you during the difficult times in your life. We want to help you to realize that circumstances do not control you; you never have to be the victim of your feelings. We encourage you to choose to look to God and listen, learn, and move ahead to the blessings that God has available for you. We encourage you to read Psalm 27:1.
You may contact the Counseling Ministry, Dr. Deloris Nelson (Licensed Professional Counselor) or any member of her staff at 713-747-2534 Church Office.
